Ok, back to lamps. Sorry, I get super, overly excited about the fact that summer is almost here! So I spray painted this lamp, and though it looked much better, I just couldn't find a shade that I liked with it. After some inspiration from an article (thanks Marsha) I decided to just take the lamp apart. I've never done that before, but I thought it would be interesting. My physics sure came in handy when I was trying to figure out what wires went where. And my students ask all the time why they need to know this stuff. I know I'm such a nerd, but it's empowering to me to use tools and be successful. Oh wait, I don't know if it turns on......... Yay! Success, see I told you.
This would be much better if I had thought to take a before photo. Those of you who saw it before know- it was very 70s. It started out with the big round part (that's at the top now) right in the middle and a metal flowery part right on top the base. I think it's now on its way to the 21st century.
But all you get is an after. This is what I ended up with. I'm still kinda unsure on the shade- hence the plastic still wrapped around it. :) What do you think? Should the shade be longer??

Cool! Nice work, I'm impressed. I think the shade is a good fit for it.
Aren't you clever! It looks much more 21st century. The shade isn't bad.....but one just a little longer might be nice. They are just so hard to find in that barrell shape you have, which I think is the best shape for it. Good job!
