I saw this video on youtube and I wanted to share with everyone so they could see what I do at work effects what is going on in the ISS. This is part of a video of "A Day in the Life Onboard the ISS" it shows Garrett Reisman talking about a normal day on the ISS and showing some of the tools he interfaces with. Now for those of you who didn't know, I switched to the ISS Planning group, and right now I am pursuing my Orbital Communication Adapter (OCA) certification. Basically what that means is I'm the one who sends files from the ground to the station. So all the things he is looking at on the computer, my position probably uplinked. Another thing he is looking at is the schedule which my group of course creates and updates constantly. His remarks about it are funny to me, but I'm a nerd. It's very cool to see what you do actually in use. Enjoy!

Sara Athon
Today Paige and I went over to Andy and Valarie Athon's house (Valarie worked in my old group) to photograph their beautiful daughter Sara. She was the best baby I have ever seen, no crying no fussin, just a happy, easy going baby. They are really blessed, and Paige and I fell in love with Sara right from the start.
Here are a few images from today, there were so many it was hard to choose which ones to put on here. Between Paige and I we probably took 1600 shots. It's hard to stop clicking when a baby is smiling at you. We didn't have time to process all of them so there will be more to come. Let us know what you think....

Thank you Andy and Val for letting us share the day with you!

Kirstin came to Houston...
Kirstin was able to come down to Houston for the weekend to visit Paige and I. We had a good time, went to the beach, went to Pappaduex's, ate Kolaches, the usual. Us and the Buckley's talked Kirstin into letting us take some pictures of her. Here are a few from the "shoot".

My latest project
Tonight I decided to take a lamp apart. We got a hand-me-down lamp from Ty's Grandma when we were home for Christmas, and it's been sitting in the closet since. I've intended on working some magic on it and just haven't had time until now. Things are finally slowing down at work, and I feel so much better! I'm on the home stretch now!
Ok, back to lamps. Sorry, I get super, overly excited about the fact that summer is almost here! So I spray painted this lamp, and though it looked much better, I just couldn't find a shade that I liked with it. After some inspiration from an article (thanks Marsha) I decided to just take the lamp apart. I've never done that before, but I thought it would be interesting. My physics sure came in handy when I was trying to figure out what wires went where. And my students ask all the time why they need to know this stuff. I know I'm such a nerd, but it's empowering to me to use tools and be successful. Oh wait, I don't know if it turns on......... Yay! Success, see I told you.
This would be much better if I had thought to take a before photo. Those of you who saw it before know- it was very 70s. It started out with the big round part (that's at the top now) right in the middle and a metal flowery part right on top the base. I think it's now on its way to the 21st century.
But all you get is an after. This is what I ended up with. I'm still kinda unsure on the shade- hence the plastic still wrapped around it. :) What do you think? Should the shade be longer??

Check out the photo blog again
Everyone check out the Photo Blog again and let me know what you think. I am trying to let it give us larger, easier to see images. I started with a template I downloaded and have been fighting with the HTML for a long time to make it format kinda the way I want it to. Let me know what you think and please let me know how it is displaying in your browser.

Photography Fundraiser..
So what do you get when you sell a Sony PSP with two games and 2 different Xbox games??? A brand new flash! I've had my eye on this guy for a while but didn't have the cash to spend on it, so I rounded up some of my stuff and put it on eBay. And this is the result....

The big thing on the bottom of the camera is a battery pack. It holds 2 batteries and is supposed prevent shutter lag and gives you extra buttons while shooting vertically. I didn't plan on buying it but it came with a set of batteries I ordered, so free is good.
